Hybrid Buffer Stops combine Oleo’s gas hydraulic buffers with a friction buffer stop frame to provide efficient, staged energy absorption. The gas hydraulic buffers dampen initial peak forces and manage low-speed impacts of up to 3 km/h without sliding, reducing wear and rolling stock damage, whilst mitigating the need to reset the buffer stop after low-speed impacts or nudges.

For higher-energy events, the system transitions to controlled sliding via the friction shoes, enabling impacts of up to 40 km/h to be safely absorbed. This makes the Hybrid Buffer Stop an ideal solution for high-energy applications and tight installation spaces where maximum performance and lifecycle cost efficiency are critical.
